Professionalism
The services provided to our users are top-of-the-line and in accordance with the most recent findings in our various fields of expertise. We meet the required know-how standards in all our activities, which allows us to be agile and to respond to all new public health challenges, implement new technologies and equipment, as well as successfully incorporate new methods. The institute prides itself on its reputable research team, with state-of-the-art international references.
Independence
The tasks within all our activities are executed, and the professional opinions are obtained, completely independently of any influences that could impact our professional assessments. Individuals work objectively and in accordance with ethical principles.
Responsibility
Being responsible means the responsibility of each employee to complete their tasks within the agreed time. Responsibility is a personal principle of an individual in relation to their co-workers, as well as to colleagues in other institutions, users of services, and the property and image of the institution.
Reliability
Precision, punctuality, propriety, and timely execution are the foundation of reliability and thus the trust of the users of our services. Every colleague contributes to this personally with their competences and determination, as well as by applying reliable methods and equipment.

Cooperation is the crucial foundation to achieve common goals in our multidisciplinary work. Open and fair internal communication, as well as an understanding of the principles of colleagues from other fields of expertise, allows proper coordination in an environment filled with trust, support, and collaboration. Good cooperation is developed with external stakeholders, especially the users of our services, applicable ministries, and relevant professional institutions. At its 19th regular session on 25 July 2013, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the Decision on the Establishment of the National Laboratory of Health, Environment and Food (NLZOH). According to this government decision, all regional Institutes of Public Health ceased to exist on the day of the establishment of the NLZOH.
