Waste is a substance or an object that the holder discards, intends to discard, or must discard.  Waste management is the collection, transport, recovery, and disposal of waste, including the supervision of such operations and after-care of disposal sites, as well as the supervision of an operation of a person trading and treating waste on behalf of a third party. Some waste management activities are only permitted if an assessment of their important properties for a particular activity has been made (e.g. disposal, incineration, etc.).

Soil is the top layer of the earth’s crust between rock and the surface, and is composed of mineral particles, organic matter, water, air, and living organisms. Soil quality assessments and soil analyses are performed on soil in accordance with the regulations.
