Pollen is an important source of allergens in the natural environment, and the cause of the appearance of symptoms of allergic disease in hypersensitive individuals. In our laboratory, we monitor 60 types of pollen of various allergenic potential, and publish the results of measurements from different phytogeographical areas in Slovenia. Data on daily concentrations, together with many years of experience, are the basis for making short-term forecasts about pollen air pollution.

Forecast from October 1 to October 8, 2025

In the lowlands and the coastal region, the ragweed season is coming to an end, only occasional pollen grains may be present in the air. In the Pannonian region, low to occasionally moderate levels of pollen are expected.

The season for other allergenic plant species has ended. The occurrence of pollen from non-native ragweed species in September this year was lower than in 2023 and 2024. Pollen grains from ragweed, grasses, plantain, goosefoot family, and nettles may still occasionally be present in the air, but the concentrations will be too low to cause allergic symptoms.

Cedars and common ivy are in bloom, but the pollen of both species is not significant as an inhalant allergen.
