The purpose of reporting on tobacco products, electronic cigarettes, and refillable containers is to ensure a high level of protection in the fields of health, environmental, and consumer protection. In accordance with the Restriction on the Use of Tobacco Products and Related Products Act, all manufacturers and importers of tobacco products and related products must submit specific information, including ingredients, emissions, and sales data.

At its 19th regular session on 25 July 2013, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the Decision on the Establishment of the National Laboratory of Health, Environment and Food (NLZOH). According to this government decision, all regional Institutes of Public Health ceased to exist on the day of the establishment of the NLZOH.
